{"id":18400,"date":"2020-10-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/voiceofkp.org\/en\/committee-to-probe-captain-retd-safdars-arrest\/"},"modified":"2020-10-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T19:00:00","slug":"committee-to-probe-captain-retd-safdars-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/voiceofkp.org\/en\/committee-to-probe-captain-retd-safdars-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"Committee to Probe Captain (retd) Safdar\u2019s Arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday announced the formation of a inquiry committee to probe the arrest of PML-N leader Capt (retd) Safdar Awan from a hotel in Karachi a day earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Acting on a case filed by ruling PTI&#8217;s local MPAs, On October 19, Sindh Police arrested Safdar for chanting slogans of \u2018vote ko izzat do\u2019 [respect the vote] and &#8216;M\u0101der-e Millat Zindabad&#8217; [long live Mother of the Nation] at Quaid-e-Azam\u2019s mausoleum and for allegedly threatening to kill someone. Maryam Nawaz and other PMLN leaders were also named in the case but no other arrest was made.<\/p>\n<p>While stating the incident at Mazar-e-Quaid as &#8220;something which should not have happened&#8221;, CM Sindh maintained that PTI&#8217;s leadership has desecrated the shrine many times as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not saying that the case was wrong, this is my own opinion, and that is for the court to decide. I cannot give a verdict here as it would compromise the inquiry.\u201d, Said Murad Ali Shah. These comments were interesting as he said this while forming a committee to probe the arrest.
