{"id":38406,"date":"2022-10-01T12:18:12","date_gmt":"2022-10-01T07:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/voiceofkp.org\/en\/?p=38406"},"modified":"2024-12-26T12:48:56","modified_gmt":"2024-12-26T07:48:56","slug":"musarat-hilali-first-ever-female-chief-justice-of-the-peshawar-high-court-phc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/voiceofkp.org\/en\/musarat-hilali-first-ever-female-chief-justice-of-the-peshawar-high-court-phc\/","title":{"rendered":"Musarat Hilali: first-ever female Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-38407 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/voiceofkp.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/12\/64289d015296b.jpg\" alt=\"Musarat Hilali\" width=\"455\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Musarat Hilali:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Former and the first-ever female Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Mussarat Hilali is now the second female judge in Pakistan\u2019s history to be elevated to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Born in Peshawar on August 8, 1961, Justice Hilali received a law degree from Khyber Law College, Peshawar University and enrolled as an Advocate of District Courts in 1983, then as an Advocate of the High Court in 1988 and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2006.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Being a female, she had several achievements in her career: She was the first female elected office-bearer in the post of secretary at the bar from 1988-1989; Vice president at the bar (twice) from 1992 to 1994; General Secretary from 1997 till 1998. She was the first female twice elected as an executive member of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) from 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She was also the first female Additional Advocate General of KP from November 2001 to March 2004 and was later appointed as the first female Chairperson of the KP Environmental Protection Tribunal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Hilali has also served as the first female ombudsperson for protection against the harassment of women in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She was elevated to the bench as an additional judge on March 26, 2013, and confirmed as a permanent judge of the Peshawar High Court on March 13, 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Musarat Hilali: Former and the first-ever female Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Mussarat Hilali is now the second female judge in Pakistan\u2019s history to be elevated to the Supreme Court.
