During the intense exchange of fire, nineteen Indian-sponsored Khwarij were neutralized through effective engagement by own troops. However, in the line of duty, Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Arif (39, resident of Rawalpindi), who was leading his men from the front, along with his second-in-command Major Tayyab Rahat (33, resident of Rawalpindi), embraced shahadat after fighting gallantly.<\/p>\n
Nine other brave soldiers also laid down their lives in defense of the motherland. They include Naib Subedar Azam Gul (38, Khyber), Naik Adil Hussain (35, Kurram), Naik Gul Ameer (34, Tank), Lance Naik Sher Khan (31, Mardan), Lance Naik Talish Faraz (32, Mansehra), Lance Naik Irshad Hussain (32, Kurram), Sepoy Tufail Khan (28, Malakand), Sepoy Aqib Ali (23, Swabi), and Sepoy Muhammad Zahid (24, Tank).<\/p>\n
A sanitization operation is underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored elements in the area.
