Reports indicate that heavy weaponry was used in the sectors of Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Khyber Pakhtunkhwa<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"576\" data-end=\"1043\">According to Pakistan Information Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Attaullah Tarar<\/span><\/span>, 133 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed, and more than 200 were injured in retaliatory strikes, while two Pakistani security personnel lost their lives. He stated that 27 Afghan Taliban posts were destroyed and nine were captured. Earlier, Pakistan&#8217;s official media had reported casualty figures of 44, 58, and 72 at different intervals; however, the latest official position places the total death toll at 133.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1497\">State broadcaster <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Pakistan Television<\/span><\/span> (PTV) reported that the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Pakistan Air Force<\/span><\/span> carried out airstrikes targeting key Afghan Taliban military installations in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Kabul<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Kandahar<\/span><\/span>, and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Paktia<\/span><\/span>. Afghan Taliban government spokesperson <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Zabihullah Mujahid<\/span><\/span> confirmed the airstrikes in these cities via social media.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1817\">According to reports, two brigade headquarters in Kabul were destroyed, while in Kandahar, one corps headquarters and one brigade headquarters were targeted. Weapons depots and logistics bases were also struck. Additionally, Pakistan claimed to have destroyed more than 80 tanks, artillery pieces, and armoured vehicles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1819\" data-end=\"2147\">Reports further suggest that following the aerial operation, Pakistan Air Force jets continued aerial patrols over Kandahar to deter further aggression. Official sources also claimed that Afghan positions in parts of Mohmand and Bajaur retreated and raised white flags; however, these claims could not be independently verified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2149\" data-end=\"2651\">Interior Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Mohsin Naqvi<\/span><\/span> stated that Afghan Taliban forces had targeted Pakistani civilian populations, warning that \u201cthe Afghan Taliban have made a grave mistake and will face the consequences.\u201d Defence Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Khawaja Asif<\/span><\/span> alleged that the Taliban government was turning Afghanistan into \u201ca colony of India\u201d and exporting terrorism. He added that Pakistan had made every effort to maintain normal relations but that \u201cpatience has now run out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2653\" data-end=\"3126\">President <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Asif Ali Zardari<\/span><\/span> and Prime Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Shehbaz Sharif,<\/span><\/span> along with leaders of various political parties, expressed full support for Pakistan Armed Forces, stating that no compromise would be made on national sovereignty. Chairman of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Gohar Ali Khan<\/span><\/span>, also said that while Pakistan seeks peace with its neighbours, any threat would be met with a strong response.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3128\" data-end=\"3485\">Due to the border escalation, the repatriation process of Afghan families at the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Torkham border crossing<\/span><\/span> has been disrupted, with several families sent back to the holding centre in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Landi Kotal<\/span><\/span>. Civilians in border areas have reportedly sought shelter in safer locations amid the deteriorating security situation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3487\" data-end=\"3822\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ant\u00f3nio Guterres<\/span><\/span>, Secretary-General of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United Nations<\/span><\/span>, urged both countries to strictly adhere to international law, particularly international humanitarian law. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Volker Turk<\/span><\/span> also called for de-escalation and dialogue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3824\" data-end=\"4097\">Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Abbas Araghchi<\/span><\/span> offered to facilitate dialogue between Afghanistan and Pakistan, stating that <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Iran<\/span><\/span> is ready to help promote understanding and cooperation between the two nations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4099\" data-end=\"4483\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">It is noteworthy that in October last year, similar border clashes resulted in the deaths of Pakistani personnel and a significant number of Taliban fighters.
