Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik has died at the age of 70.
According media reports he was being treated at the hospital for coronary heart disease. He also had other medical problems. The former Home Minister was born on December 12 in Sialkot district of Punjab.
Rehman Malik held the post of Home Minister for the longest time in the history of Pakistan. Rehman Malik was a member of the Senate from the PPP since 2018. He was the Interior Minister of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013.
A spokesman for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) confirmed the death of the former federal minister and said that Rehman Malik had difficulty breathing and was shifted to a private hospital in Islamabad on a ventilator, where he died after several days of treatment.
Senator Rehman Malik’s lungs were infected with the corona virus. His body has been shifted to his home. According to his family, his funeral prayers and burial will be announced later.
PPP leader Rehman Malik has left a widow and two sons to mourn.
