Over Rs3b Saudi grant for education in Azad Kashmir

The government of Saudi Arabia has announced to provide the latest educational equipment for the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir University with a huge sum of Rs.3 billion 67 crore.

On Thursday, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, attended the signing ceremony between Saudi Fund for Development and Jamia Kashmir at Jammu and Kashmir House, Islamabad.

In his speech, the Saudi Ambassador called King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Teaching Hospital Mansehra and King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Campus Muzaffarabad as two of the most important projects of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir which were completed with the support of the Saudi Government Agency for Development.
He said that the completion of these two projects will provide education and modern health facilities to the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. The completion of this will further expand the relations between the two countries.
Addressing the ceremony, Jamia Kashmir Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi said that the construction of King Abdullah Campus was done earlier with a huge amount of more than 7 billion rupees and now this most beautiful campus in the country is being built with financial assistance of more than 3 and a half billion rupees. The provision of modern educational facilities is an achievement of the Saudi government which the people of Azad Kashmir will never forget. He said that more than seven thousand students and three hundred faculty have benefited from the educational facilities provided by the Saudi government.

Flood relief, rescue operations’ update

Pakistan Army relief efforts continue in flood hit areas of various Distts of Pakistan.
Balochistan.  In Othal 2300 individuals of 4 villages have been evacuated to safer places. Shelter and cooked meals provided to affected population.
N-25 connecting Quetta – Karachi has been opened for traffic which was blocked at 4 different places due to collapse of bridges .
Telecommunication restored in most of Balochistan particularly in Distt Lasbela in coordination with PTA. 467 % additional unprecedented rains from Jul 1 till date. 29 Distts of Balochistan have been affected due to recent rains/ flash floods particularly Lasbela, Kech, Quetta, Sibbi , Khuzdar and Kohlu. 3953 houses have been damaged.
About five medical camps established in flood hit areas of Balochistan including Hub, Gaddani, Bela and Duddar and Jhal Magsi.

Gwadar:
Army dewatering teams have cleared Gawadar area.
Costal highway blocked at Aghore has been opened for traffic.

Jhal Magsi:
4 Sorties of Army aviation helicopters operated delivering 1.3 tons of relief items including rations and medicines.
No rain in the area – Water level considerably receded.
Connectivity of Gandhawa has resumed with Jhal Magsi, efforts underway to resume connectivity on other 2 roads . 200 individuals evacuated .

Khuzdar:
Water level still high in Mula River .Work on connectivity of M-8 will be resumed by NHA after water recedes
General Officer Commanding at Khuzdar visited Bela and surroundings to oversee relief efforts.
Chaman
Babe Dosti has been opened by dewatering teams as it remained closed due to inundation.
Lasbella:
Telecom resumed.
Relief operation by Army, FC and Pakistan Cost Gurad underway .
All four locations on RCD opened for  light traffice.

Zhob:
Mobile Field Medical Camp established by FC and Civil administration in Zhob . 1570 Patients treated.
Kila Saifullah
Flash flooding occurred in Kila Saifullah.
Ziarat
Road Quetta -Ziarat blocked near Kawas Tangi Station due to heavy flooding has been opened.
Quetta
Floods reported in Hanna and Nawa Kili. Rescue and relief teams are working on site.
Sindh
58 dewatering teams were employed for dewatering in Karachi only.
Gharo Grid Station at Thatta which was flooded with water has been cleared by Army dewatering teams. 300 individuals have been evacuated in Jamshoro. Army established relief camp At Jamshoro.
M-9 was flooded at various places due to overflow of Lath Dam. Dewatering teams along with heavy machinery were employed to clear the road.
Ration and medicine being provided to local people at Dadu and Khairpur.
GB
KKH and Jaglot- Skardu road have been kept open by FWO clearing multiple landslides.
Distt Ghizer was cut off due to flash flooding. Communication infrastructure opened. Food and medicines were provided to local residents
KP
Distt Tank, Chitral and swabi were badly affected due to rains.
Road Chitral- Mastooj and Road Tank- Gomal Zam Dam opened for traffic.
Pakistan Army, Navy and FC/ Rangers troops are constantly assisting the civil administration and local communities in all flood affected areas.  -ISPR
