KP Caretaker CM urges timely completion of Hydel power projects

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Azam Khan, has emphasized the need for the prompt and efficient completion of hydel power projects in the province. He made this call during the 17th meeting of the Hydel Development Fund Board, where he underscored the importance of expediting ongoing hydropower initiatives, citing their priority status in the provincial government’s agenda.

The meeting, attended by key cabinet members, the chief secretary, additional chief secretary, and other relevant authorities, resulted in conditional approval for funding energy projects during the financial year 2023-24.

Chief Minister Azam Khan urged the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to operationalize the Provincial Transmission and Dispatch Company. He commended the establishment of this company by the provincial government, recognizing that it would reduce the province’s reliance on Wapda (Water and Power Development Authority).

Azam Khan also directed the authorities to swiftly formulate a strategy to put into operation the hydropower plants under the Provincial Energy Development Organization (PEDO). He emphasized that, since these projects were funded with the resources of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, their benefits should be delivered to the public without any delay.

He further highlighted that enabling these power plants would not only contribute to alleviating the energy crisis in the province but also enhance the region’s revenue.

The caretaker government’s commitment to completing and activating hydel power projects underscores its dedication to addressing energy needs and promoting sustainable development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

IGP KP inaugurates command & control centre

PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akhtar Hayat Khan, on Wednesday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Command and Control Center in district Kohat. The purpose of this modern facility is to bolster peace and order in the region.

The newly unveiled command and control center boasts cutting-edge technology, including LED screens seamlessly integrated with the extensive network of CCTV cameras placed strategically throughout the city. Additionally, a wireless communication system and various other facilities have been incorporated to ensure seamless coordination and swift responses in times of need.

During his visit to the center, IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan personally oversaw the monitoring of internal and external checkpoints, as well as various markets and educational institutions. This monitoring was made possible through the screens installed within the control center, offering real-time surveillance capabilities.

The IGP took the opportunity to issue crucial instructions to the relevant authorities, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a vigilant eye on sensitive areas and remaining on high alert to prevent any potential untoward incidents.

Speaking on the occasion, IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan highlighted the primary objective behind establishing this command and control center. He emphasized its role in combating street and organized crimes within the city through timely responses, harnessing modern technology, and utilizing state-of-the-art equipment.

The inauguration of this modern Command and Control Center signifies a significant step forward in enhancing security and law enforcement capabilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
