Free Medical Camps in Remote Chitral During Ramadan
Aid International & Chitral Scouts 144 Wing Organize Free Medical Camps in Remote Chitral During Ramadan
Chitral: Aid International, in collaboration with Chitral Scouts 144 Wing, successfully organized two large-scale free medical camps in the remote valleys of Arkarai and Gabor (Garam Chashma). These camps were set up in some of Pakistan’s most isolated and coldest regions, where access to healthcare remains a significant challenge. The initiative provided free medical checkups, medicines, awareness sessions, and complete medical counseling to the local population.
A team of specialized doctors, including medical specialists, gynecologists, eye specialists, physiotherapists, and general physicians, offered their services at the camps. Around 2,000 patients received free medical treatment, and those requiring further care were guided accordingly. Additionally, to support children’s education, slates and whiteboards were distributed among local school students to help improve their learning experience.
Military Leadership Appreciates Aid International’s Efforts
The medical camps were personally visited by Commandant Colonel Bilal (Chitral Scouts) and Wing Commander Lieutenant Colonel Amir. They highly praised Aid International’s team of doctors for their dedication and voluntary services, emphasizing the significance of such initiatives in addressing healthcare challenges in underprivileged areas. They also expressed their commitment to future collaborations with Aid International for similar medical camps to benefit more deserving individuals.
Speaking on the occasion, Aid International’s CEO, Rahman Badshah, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to delivering healthcare services to Pakistan’s most remote and snow-covered regions. He acknowledged the challenges of setting up medical camps in harsh weather conditions but emphasized that the spirit of public service drives their team to overcome all obstacles.
These successful medical camps were a testament to Aid International’s commitment, Chitral Scouts’ support, and the hard work of dedicated doctors who ensured essential medical care reached the people, even amid the severe cold of Ramadan.

Three-Day Multi-Stakeholder Program Concludes to Prevent Violent Extremism
Three-Day Multi-Stakeholder Program Concludes to Prevent Violent Extremism
Mardan: A three-day multi-stakeholder program aimed at countering violent extremism concluded in Mardan. Organized by the non-governmental organization Individual Land, in collaboration with the European Union, UNODC, NACTA, and the Mardan municipal government, the initiative focused on developing an early warning system to identify and mitigate extremist threats.
The early warning system will proactively monitor factors contributing to extremism, enhance public awareness, and prevent potential incidents before they escalate. Its implementation strategy will rely on a WhatsApp channel and radio broadcasts to ensure swift and effective dissemination of information. A 20-member committee has been formed to assess extremist threats, while a separate 30-member team will analyze misleading content circulating on social media and provide verified information through the WhatsApp channel.
During the program, Safeullah Khoso, Integrated Operations and Program Manager, highlighted the factors contributing to political, social, and religious extremism and discussed possible countermeasures. Mashhood Ali, Capacity Building Lead, presented the initial framework for the early warning system, which was further refined with input from participants, including Mardan Mayor Himayatullah Mayar. The final version of the system was officially approved and handed over to the mayor for execution.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Himayatullah Mayar emphasized,
“In an era where hate, misinformation, and extremism are evolving through new channels, we must modernize our approach. Strengthening our community and utilizing effective communication tools will enable us to identify extremist threats in advance and protect our nation from potential crises.”
Experts and participants praised the initiative, expressing confidence that the early warning system will play a crucial role in detecting and curbing extremism. Additionally, radio broadcasts will be leveraged to promote media literacy and counter extremist narratives. This initiative marks a significant step toward fostering collaboration between local government, civil society, and the media in creating a sustainable framework for safeguarding citizens from extremist threats.
