Historic Umrah Ballot held for children of Martyrs in Khyber District

KHYBER: For the first time in the history of the merged districts, a transparent ballot was conducted in Khyber for selecting children of police martyrs to perform Umrah. In this inaugural draw, the names of the children of Shaheed Syed Kareem and Shaheed Rawail Khan were selected.

On this occasion, the families of both martyrs visited District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber, Rai Mazhar Iqbal, at his office and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this dignified and commendable initiative.

DPO Rai Mazhar Iqbal stated that the land of Khyber has always produced brave sons for whom the entire nation feels immense pride. “The children of our martyrs are a trust upon us. Their dignity, education, and welfare are our top priorities,” he affirmed.

He further added that Khyber Police, following the vision of the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, is utilizing all possible resources for the welfare of the families of the fallen heroes. “It is not just our duty, but also our honor,” the DPO emphasized.

Anti-India Rally Marches from Bab-e-Khyber

Khyber: A massive rally was taken out from the historic Bab-e-Khyber in Jamrud to protest India’s recent aggression, border violations, and atrocities against the Kashmiri people.

The demonstration saw participation from police officials, tribal elders, social leaders, and a large number of civilians. Protesters carried placards and banners condemning India’s hostile actions and demanded immediate intervention from the United Nations and the international community to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.

Tribal leaders including Tehsil Chairman Haji Azmat Khan, Chairman Abdul Manan Madokhel, Hazrat Wali Afridi, Khalid Akbar, Haji Khan, and Ziwar Jan addressed the rally, reiterating the tribal people’s historical commitment to defending the homeland. They warned that India’s war-mongering behavior threatens regional peace, and assured that the Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its institutions.

Khyber Police DSP Circle Jamrud Muhammad Nawaz, SHO Naseem Khan, Additional SHOs Khalid Khan, Ghaffar Khan, Hussain Zada, and Rafiullah stated that the police are not limited to internal security but also play an active role in national defense.

The peaceful protest concluded with special prayers for the safety of Pakistan, freedom of the Kashmiri people, and lasting peace in the region.

KP Govt ensures transparency and student support in intermediate exams

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is actively working to improve the education system, with a strong focus on maintaining transparency and curbing cheating practices during the ongoing Intermediate examinations.

Following reforms introduced after the matriculation exams, authorities are now ensuring that students receive adequate facilities while preventing exploitation through academic dishonesty. Officials emphasize that a fair examination system strengthens the entire educational structure and fosters a culture of merit.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during visits to various examination centers in Peshawar alongside Commissioner Peshawar Division and Chairman Peshawar Board Riaz Khan Mehsud, assessed the implementation of measures to support students and prevent cheating.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Secretary stated that concrete steps have been taken to detect flaws in the system, ensuring that capable and hardworking students are not marginalized. Instructions were issued to utilize all available resources to improve exam conditions. He added that a performance-based reward and accountability mechanism is now in place — good performance will be recognized, while negligence will face strict consequences.

Rawalpindi: According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Armed Forces have successfully neutralized 25 Israeli-made Harop drones using a combination of soft-kill (technical) and hard-kill (kinetic) capabilities.

This development follows India’s cowardly attacks on May 6 and 7, which resulted in the destruction of advanced fighter jets, drones, several military posts, and Pakistan Army Downs 25 Israeli-Made Harop Drones notable casualties on the Indian side. In a state of panic, India has resorted to using Israeli-origin Harop drones to launch further strikes inside Pakistan.

The ISPR stated that these attacks reflect India’s internal frustration and desperation. The enemy has also suffered substantial losses along the Line of Control, where the Pakistan Army continues to respond with full force.

Debris of the Israeli-made Harop drones has been recovered from multiple areas inside Pakistan, further evidencing the hostile intent.

PDMA Issues Weather Alert: Intermittent Rains Expected Across KP from May 8-12

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a weather alert, forecasting intermittent rainfall in most districts of the province commencing today, May 8th, and likely continuing until May 12th.

According to the PDMA, districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat are expected to experience rain with thunderstorms during this period.

The PDMA has issued a circular to all district administrations, directing them to take precautionary measures to deal with any potential untoward incidents and ensure the availability of necessary machinery.

The public is advised to stay away from power lines, dilapidated structures, signboards, and billboards during rainfall. Farmers are urged to plan their activities considering the weather forecast. Tourists and local populations in sensitive upper areas are instructed to take precautionary measures and stay informed about evolving weather conditions. District administrations in sensitive areas have also been directed to disseminate advisory messages in local languages.

All relevant departments are instructed to remain vigilant for road clearance and to provide alternate routes in case of road blockages. The Director General of PDMA has advised tourists to contact the PDMA helpline for information on weather and road conditions before traveling to tourist destinations.

The PDMA’s Emergency Operations Center is fully functional. The public can report any untoward incident to the PDMA’s free helpline at 1700, a PDMA spokesperson confirmed.

KP Government Issues Health Advisory Amid “War-like Situation”

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued a health advisory directing all healthcare facilities to take preemptive measures in light of the prevailing “war-like situation.”

Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health, Ehtisham Ali, has instructed all hospitals, Basic Health Units (BHUs), and trauma centers to prepare for potential mass casualties.

The advisory includes directives for the advance procurement and stocking of surgical kits, medicines, burn care materials, and arrangements for blood donations. Furthermore, all leaves for doctors and hospital staff have been cancelled with immediate effect.

“The entire nation is united against Indian aggression,” stated Mr. Ali, contextualizing the urgency of the preparedness measures.

LAKKI MARWAT: A new traffic training driving school is set to commence operations in Lakki Marwat from Thursday, May 8th, aimed at providing citizens with modern driving skills in accordance with traffic laws. The facility, located at Police Lines, will be managed by the Traffic Police.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, and follows directives from Regional Police Officer Bannu, Sajjad, and DPO Lakki Marwat, Muhammad Jawad Ishaq.

The driving school will offer 14-day courses for LTV, motor car, and motorcycle driving. The curriculum includes theoretical and practical driving instruction, road safety, road sense, understanding traffic signs, basic mechanical theory, and literature based on modern driving principles.

Upon successful completion, both male and female participants will receive a certificate and assistance in obtaining a driving license. Officials anticipate that training based on international standards will significantly increase the public’s inclination towards learning to drive correctly.
