Funeral of Shaheed Major Moiz Abbas Held at Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: The funeral prayer of Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah, who embraced martyrdom during an operation in Sararogha, South Waziristan, was held at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi. The 37-year-old officer hailed from Chakwal district.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister, and senior military and civil officials attended. The Army Chief praised Major Moiz for his courage, stating that his sacrifice upholds the highest traditions of patriotism.

His body has been sent to his hometown for burial with full military honors.

Bannu: A Jirga chaired by Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah and Brigadier Naveed Ahmad Mukhtar was held in Bannu to address law and order, traffic, and local development issues. Religious leaders, traders, minority representatives, and community elders participated.

Participants voiced concerns over road blockages, traffic jams, and opposed female entry into the Bannu Cantt Park. The officials clarified that the park was built upon demand by the Apex Committee and that its use would be determined by the local community.

Several under-construction roads will be completed by July 1, and efforts to restore public order with community support were emphasized. The Jirga concluded with firm assurances to address public concerns.

Bannu: District Emergency Officer Bakhtullah Wazir rescued two child beggars selling mint at Kohat Road Kurram Bridge and called in the Child Protection Bureau. The girls were taken into protective custody and shifted to Dar-ul-Aman.

District Child Protection Officer Naseem Iqbal stated that reports of inhumane treatment towards children were received, which violates child protection laws and human rights. He stressed that such behavior will not be tolerated.

A state-of-the-art Command and Control Center has been established for real-time surveillance via CCTV and drone cameras. Checkpoints at all entry and exit points have been reinforced. Suspect individuals and vehicles entering the city are under strict monitoring. Entry of vehicles into the inner city will be banned in the final days of Muharram. Forces involved include Peshawar Police, RRF, ATS, QRF, Ladies Police, BDU, Ababeel Squad, City Patrolling Force, DSB, and Traffic Police. Plainclothes officers have also been deployed in mosques and sensitive locations. Armored vehicles will remain stationed at critical points, while intelligence-based search and strike operations continue throughout the district. Data of residents in inns, hotels, and guest houses is being verified. A Supreme Command Post has been established in Kohati with continuous presence of officials from all relevant departments.
