KP Announces Summer Vacations for Plain Areas

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has announced summer vacations for educational institutions in the plain areas of the province.

According to sources, summer holidays for public and private schools and colleges in the plain regions will be observed from May 22 to August 31, 2026.

The official notification stated that the vacations were initially scheduled from June 1 to August 31, 2026. However, due to Eid holidays and the weekly holidays falling after May 22, authorities decided to commence the vacations earlier.

The Education Department said the decision was taken to facilitate students and teaching staff amid rising temperatures in the province.

Job Fair Open House 2026 Held at AWKUM Mardan

Mardan: Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan hosted a grand Job Fair Open House 2026, attracting participation from 45 leading national and international companies, while students showcased 223 innovative projects and research-based stalls.

The event’s chief guest was former provincial minister and Member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Zahir Shah Toru. The event was organized by Dr Ehtisham, Director IBL, and Dr Bilal, Director CDC.

During the job fair, representatives of various organizations conducted interviews with students and distributed job letters to successful candidates, providing graduates with direct employment opportunities.

Senior PTI leader Ilyas Toru, Haroon Khan, faculty members from different universities and colleges, industry representatives, and business leaders also attended the event. Among the distinguished guests were Mardan Chamber of Commerce President Owais Khan and Ubaidul Haq.

Addressing the ceremony, Zahir Shah Toru announced a grant of Rs10 million from his personal funds to promote research activities at the university. He urged students to embrace innovation, creative thinking, and especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), stating that future success would belong to youth equipped with modern technological skills.

He also called upon industries to provide greater practical opportunities for young graduates to excel professionally.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Jameel Ahmad said the university was steadily progressing in academic excellence, research, and professional training. He noted that the university ranks first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and among the top ten universities nationwide in the Times Higher Education rankings.

He further revealed that several advanced projects were underway at the university, including fisheries research centers, honeybee farms, animal vaccine production, and modern health-related products. Work is also in progress on establishing a business incubation center, business park, and skill development center to enhance entrepreneurial and technical skills among students.

Pashtun Tribal Jirga Delegation Called On Governor KP

Islamabad: A delegation of Pashtun Tribal Jirga led by tribal elder Inayatullah Mehsud called on Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House Islamabad to discuss various issues facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and possible solutions to them.

During the meeting, members of the jirga appreciated the governor’s role in addressing provincial issues and said that Faisal Karim Kundi was effectively representing the entire province. They noted that different tribes and communities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa acknowledged his positive efforts and serious approach toward resolving public issues.

The delegation also praised the governor’s proactive role regarding the recent killing of two youths in Rawalpindi, expressing hope that such efforts would help ensure timely justice.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that sustainable solutions to issues lie in adherence to the rule of law and mutual dialogue. He emphasized that Pashtuns were living and conducting business peacefully across the country, and individual disputes should not be given a collective or ethnic dimension.

The governor further stated that community leadership carries the responsibility to resolve matters wisely and responsibly. He stressed the importance of enforcing the law, punishing those responsible, and preventing such incidents in the future to maintain peace and stability in society.
