Jirga Held to Discuss Peace and Development in Tirah

Peshawar: An important Jirga was held at the headquarters of Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North, Bala Hisar Fort, Peshawar, where jirga members from Tirah Maidan, tribal elders, senior government officials, and security representatives participated.

Members of the 24-member Tirah Maidan committee and tribal elders attended the jirga. Senior officials including the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, IG Frontier Corps KP (North), Commissioner Peshawar Division, CCPO Peshawar, Deputy Commissioner Khyber, and DPO Khyber were also present.

During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on issues faced by displaced residents of Tirah Maidan, the prevailing law and order situation, and ongoing development projects in the region.

Tribal elders emphasized that sustainable peace was essential for the development of the area and urged authorities to ensure early implementation of government commitments. They also assured full cooperation with the administration and security institutions.

Addressing the jirga, the IG Frontier Corps KP (North) stated that peace and stability in Tirah Maidan, Aka Khel, Bar Qambar Khel, and other parts of Khyber would not be allowed to deteriorate under any circumstances.

Participants thanked the authorities for organizing the successful jirga and expressed hope that continued dialogue and development initiatives would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.

KP Police Bannu

Transformation plan for Bannu Police, modern equipment provided

Peshawar: Zulfiqar Hameed has launched a comprehensive transformation plan aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of Bannu Police in the fight against terrorism.

According to a press release issued by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, advanced weapons and surveillance equipment have been transferred from various districts and the Central Police Office (CPO) reserve stock to Bannu Police, which is serving on the frontline against militant threats.

Under the transformation plan, a total of 50 modern operational devices have been provided, including 15 SKUA systems, 31 Thermal Weapon Sights (TWS), 20 night vision devices, five quadcopters, and one advanced surveillance quadcopter. Additionally, two state-of-the-art anti-drone guns have also been added to the force’s operational inventory to counter aerial threats and drone attacks.

The equipment was reallocated from multiple districts, including Mardan, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Swat, Buner, Swabi, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Kolai Palas, Torghar, and Upper Chitral, to ensure technological superiority for police operating in sensitive areas.

IGP Zulfiqar Hameed stated that Bannu Police is playing the role of a frontline force in maintaining peace and combating terrorism, adding that fulfilling its security and operational requirements remains the top priority of the provincial police leadership.

He further said that the procurement process for advanced thermal imaging cameras for Bannu Police was also in its final stages and the equipment would soon be delivered to further enhance operational effectiveness against terrorist elements.
