KP Police Releases Six-Month Performance Report
2,004 Intelligence-Based Operations, 504 Militants Arrested, 182 Killed
Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has released its performance report for the first six months of the year, highlighting significant achievements in counterterrorism, crime prevention, and public service delivery. The report was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed at the Central Police Office in Peshawar.
According to the report, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted 2,004 intelligence-based operations against Fitna al-Khawarij militants, resulting in the arrest of 504 terrorists, including 14 high-value commanders, while 182 militants and proclaimed offenders were killed during operations.
The report states that police faced 294 terrorist attacks during the six-month period, of which 161 were successfully repelled through enhanced fortifications, modern tactics, and advanced security technologies. In addition, 341 drone attacks launched by militants were thwarted using anti-drone technology. The report also noted the establishment of Pakistan’s first police UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Division within the KP Police.
CTD operations led to the recovery of 45 submachine guns, 91 hand grenades, 52 pistols, two suicide jackets, over 1,771 kilograms of explosives, and large quantities of ammunition.
The report said 122 police officers and personnel embraced martyrdom while performing their duties during the period, while another 175 sustained injuries.
In the anti-narcotics campaign, police registered 10,197 cases and arrested 10,718 suspects. Seized narcotics included more than 7,577 kilograms of hashish, 385 kilograms of opium, 246 kilograms of heroin, 949 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), and 26,523 litres of liquor. Police also arrested 10,173 proclaimed offenders, while 103 were killed in police encounters.
Under the National Action Plan, police conducted 2,742 search-and-strike operations, arresting 10,540 suspects. A further 15,003 suspicious individuals were detained during 39,106 snap-checking operations across the province.
The report highlighted the inauguration of the Rs2.2 billion Safe City Project in Peshawar, while work on Safe City and modern surveillance systems continues across the province. KP Police also launched the upgraded Police Facilitation Centre Global Application and the Street Crime Pulse app, enabling citizens to report crimes directly through their mobile phones.
Under the Police Welfare Programme, 8,769 cases were processed during the six months, with financial assistance worth Rs429.2 million distributed among police personnel and their families. Meanwhile, the Police Access Service (PAS) received 3,768 public complaints, of which 1,928 have been resolved.
Addressing the meeting, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed reaffirmed that terrorists, anti-state elements, and criminal networks would continue to face strict action under the law. He praised the province’s 50,000 police personnel for ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram and reiterated the force’s commitment to protecting lives and property while delivering public services efficiently
