IGP KP Hands Over 10 Modern Ambulances and 8 APCs to Field Formations

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has received 10 modern ambulances and eight armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to improve officers’ safety during counterterrorism operations and ensure timely medical assistance for injured personnel.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed handed over the keys of the vehicles to the relevant regional and district police officers at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in Peshawar. Additional inspectors general, deputy inspectors general and other senior police officers attended the event.

According to the police, the APCs include six Zarb-e-Haider and two Dragon-class vehicles. The ambulances and armoured vehicles were allocated to police officials in Peshawar, Charsadda, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Abbottabad and Shangla.

The IGP inspected the vehicles and received a detailed briefing on their features and operational capabilities.

He said the modern APCs would help ensure the safe movement of police personnel during operations and emergencies, providing additional protection against security threats.

Hameed said the ambulances, equipped with essential medical equipment and facilities, would enable injured personnel to receive immediate first aid in the field and be transported to hospitals more quickly, potentially improving their chances of survival.

He noted that KP Police had served as a frontline force in the fight against terrorism for the past two decades, during which personnel ranging from senior officers to constables had sacrificed their lives.

The IGP said all available resources were being utilised to equip the force with modern equipment and essential facilities in view of the prevailing security situation. He added that special proposals seeking additional resources had also been submitted to the provincial government.
