CPEC Route Security Tightened: KP Police enhances patrolling on Yarik–Hakla motorway

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, has issued strict directives to enhance security arrangements along the CPEC Yarik–Hakla Motorway, aiming to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable travel for the public.

According to the KP Police spokesperson, following the IG’s instructions, a high-level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Syed Ashfaq Anwar. The meeting was attended by District Police Officer Sahibzada Sajjad, sub-division SPs, and motorway officials.

Key decisions were made to increase police patrolling, establish joint check posts, and prevent incidents such as unauthorized vehicle movements, entry of unauthorized individuals, and theft of iron from motorway fences.

The strategy also includes repair of damaged fencing, protection against stray animals on the road, and strict control over restricted vehicles.

IG Zulfiqar Hameed emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated in ensuring the safety of travelers, and that violators would face strict legal consequences. In one such action, police registered a case under Sections 279 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code against a motorcyclist and seized the motorcycle for traffic violations.

RPO Ashfaq Anwar stated that under the special directives of the IG, collaborative efforts with motorway police are being implemented to enhance travel services and significantly reduce accidents.
