Peshawar: A 6 percent and 7 percent increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees has been proposed in the budget year 2025-26, respectively. According to the details, a 6 percent increase in the salaries of government employees and a 7 percent increase in the pensions of retired employees have been proposed in the next year’s budget. The representative organizations of thousands of employees who protested in front of the Parliament House have rejected the small increase in salaries and pensions proposed in the budget proposals, terming them as cumin in the mouth of a camel. On this occasion, the Parliament House contacted the journalist community and rejected the current budget proposals and said that the Local Government Employees Federation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with other labor organizations, will launch a protest movement for a substantial increase in salaries and pensions in line with inflation, for which the entire responsibility will fall on the government of the day. Senior officials of the Local Government Employees Federation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provincial cabinet to increase the salaries and allowances of provincial government employees, including local government employees and pensioners, in line with inflation, saying that the small increase in salaries and pensions by the central government is against justice and a move against the basic constitutional rights of employees.
