A three-day awareness session on Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB) concluded at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, jointly organized by UN Women Pakistan, UNDP, and the European Union. The session saw the special participation of Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, Deputy Speaker Suraiya Bibi, and other MPAs.
In her address, Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Special Committee on Gender Mainstreaming, Suraiya Bibi, lauded the efforts of UN Women, UNDP Pakistan, the Finance Department, and P&D. She emphasized the importance of the session in empowering women lawmakers by equipping them with essential knowledge about budget-making processes, provincial revenue and expenditure systems, PC-1/2, and the NFC Award.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati appreciated the efforts of UN Women and UNDP in promoting equality and assisting in critical legislation, including domestic violence bills, inheritance rights, labor laws, and women’s empowerment policies in KP.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed among MPAs and participants. UN agencies also acknowledged the contributions of Provincial Assembly’s Special Secretary Administration Syed Waqar Shah and his team for their tireless work.
