A public holiday will be observed across Pakistan on Tuesday, May 28, to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer, the day Pakistan conducted its nuclear tests and became an atomic power.
All government and semi-government offices, as well as educational institutions, will remain closed on this occasion. The Federal Government had previously included May 28 in its list of public holidays for December 2024, and a notification to this effect was issued last year.
The Sindh government and the Pakistan Stock Exchange had also earlier announced a public holiday for May 28 to mark Youm-e-Takbeer. Special ceremonies, seminars, and rallies are planned across the country to celebrate the historic day.
