Peshawar Police Finalizes Comprehensive Security Plan for Muharram

Peshawar: The Capital City Police Peshawar has finalized a comprehensive security plan for Muharram 2025, deploying over 8,500 police officers and personnel across the city. According to CCPO Qasim Ali Khan, strict security measures have been put in place to ensure peace.

All routes, Imambargahs, and mourning processions will undergo sweeping by the Bomb Disposal Unit and sniffer dogs. A state-of-the-art Command and Control Center has been established for real-time surveillance via CCTV and drone cameras.

Checkpoints at all entry and exit points have been reinforced. Suspect individuals and vehicles entering the city are under strict monitoring. Entry of vehicles into the inner city will be banned in the final days of Muharram.

Forces involved include Peshawar Police, RRF, ATS, QRF, Ladies Police, BDU, Ababeel Squad, City Patrolling Force, DSB, and Traffic Police. Plainclothes officers have also been deployed in mosques and sensitive locations.

Armored vehicles will remain stationed at critical points, while intelligence-based search and strike operations continue throughout the district. Data of residents in inns, hotels, and guest houses is being verified.

A Supreme Command Post has been established in Kohati with continuous presence of officials from all relevant departments. Over 1,000 traffic personnel have been deployed to maintain flow of traffic during Muharram.
