A tragic incident off the coast of Libya has resulted in the deaths of eleven individuals, among them four Pakistani nationals. The boat capsized on April 12 near the coastal area of Harawa, close to the city of Sirte in eastern Libya.
According to a report submitted by the Pakistani embassy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rescuers have recovered eleven bodies from the site of the incident, four of which have been identified as Pakistanis. A team from the Pakistani embassy visited Sirte to gather information about the event and successfully identified the deceased through national documentation.
The identified Pakistanis include Zahid Mahmood, son of Liaquat Ali, from Gujranwala, and three others—Sameer Ali, son of Raja Abdul Qadeer; Syed Ali Hussain, son of Shafqat-ul-Husain; and Asif Ali, son of Nazir Muhammad—who all hail from Mandi Bahauddin.
Additionally, two bodies remain unidentified, while five victims are confirmed to be Egyptian citizens. The Pakistani embassy is in contact with local authorities to obtain further information regarding the incident.
