Tribal Jirga Meets Governor KP

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi met with a tribal jirga led by former MNA Hameedullah Jan at the Governor House in Peshawar.

The tribal elders highlighted the growing problems and unrest in merged districts post-merger and expressed strong reservations over the imposition of taxes, particularly the 10% tax on industry, which they termed oppressive.

They also raised concerns over the non-payment of compensation to victims of military operations in Bara and other tribal areas.

Governor Kundi stated that all promises made to tribal people post-merger must be fully implemented. He added that he is advocating for tribal communities at the federal level and has consistently called for an end to their deprivations.

He assured that suggestions from local elders will be included in the steering committee for development in the former FATA areas, and that full respect will be given to local opinions. He emphasized the need for unity to resolve provincial issues and ensure peace and prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
