The bill proposes a ban on the marriage of girls under the age of 18. The Bill has been submitted by PPP’s Nighat Orakzai. Violators will face up to three years in prison. Action is also proposed against the groom who marries a girl below 18 years of age. Action should also be taken against the groom and his parents. The bill proposes, Parents are also proposed to be sentenced to 2 years imprisonment if the consent of a minor marriage is involved. The magistrate and the court will be bound to make decision of these cases within 90 days.
