Art Exhibition in Abbottabad

Abbottabad: A unique art exhibition held at the Hazara Abaseen Arts Council after a long hiatus has drawn widespread appreciation from residents and the artistic community, offering renewed hope for the promotion of arts and culture in the region.

Organized by the Abbottabad Academy of Performing Arts (AAPA), the event took place at Jalal Baba Auditorium, Hazara Abaseen Arts Council, featuring a certificate distribution ceremony for students of Art Line Academy alongside an extensive art exhibition.

Renowned painter Nasir Shahzad attended as the chief guest. The exhibition showcased works by both established and emerging painters, calligraphers, and visual artists from across the Hazara Division.

Visitors described the event as a welcome cultural initiative that not only highlights the creative potential of young artists but also strengthens Abbottabad’s image as a center of artistic and intellectual activity.

Calligrapher Imama Rizwan said that in the past she had to travel to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other major cities to exhibit her work. Participating in a professionally organized exhibition in her hometown, she noted, was a rewarding experience. She praised the creativity of emerging artists and emphasized the need for mentorship and platforms to nurture their talent.

Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Shahzad commended the artwork displayed by students and artists, stating that Hazara possesses abundant artistic talent and that institutions such as AAPA can play a crucial role in refining and promoting these skills.

Vice President of the Hazara Abaseen Arts Council and senior artist Qazi Zubair described the exhibition as an important effort to project the region’s positive identity. He said bringing together veteran and aspiring artists under one roof was a commendable initiative that would contribute significantly to cultural development.

Senior painter Parvez Khan remarked that although he had exhibited his work across Pakistan for decades, presenting his artwork before people from his own region had been a long-cherished aspiration.

AAPA Executive Director Safdar Hussain said the institution was established to provide a platform where artists and learners could interact, share experiences, and develop their skills. He noted that more than a dozen artists participated in the inaugural exhibition and that the strong public response reflected a growing demand for cultural and artistic activities.

He further announced that the academy plans to launch structured performing and creative arts programs aimed at providing young people with professional training, mentorship, and opportunities to showcase their talents at regional and national levels.

A notable feature of the exhibition was the participation of both veteran and emerging painters and calligraphers from across Hazara Division, creating a valuable opportunity for intergenerational learning, collaboration, and artistic exchange.
