Role of KP Police in War on Terror
It is a bitter truth that Pakistan has been facing economic problems, internal and external conspiracies, as well as terrorism since its inception, especially after the 9/11 attacks in America. The most dangerous terrorism in the world was faced which Pakistan forces fought with great wisdom and courage. Pakistan Army has carried out several successful operations to eliminate terrorist networks, the top ones being Operation Zarb Azab and Operation Radal al-Fasaad. Operation Radal-Fasaad was launched by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in 2017, while Operation Zarb Azab was launched by former Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in 2014. Operation Rid al-Fasaad was a unique nationwide operation in which the three armed forces of Pakistan, along with Rangers, security agencies and police forces of all provinces, also participated. The police of all provinces, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are continuing the war against terrorism alongside the Pakistan Army.
Just as “Pakistan Martyrs’ Day” is celebrated with national enthusiasm on April 30 every year to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army who laid down their lives for the sake of the dear country, similarly the lives of the citizens living in the country “Police Martyrs’ Day” is celebrated on 4th August every year in memory of the martyred police officers and soldiers who fought against terrorists without caring for their lives to ensure security of property and law and order. On the occasion of this day, special prayers are offered for the martyrs and the country and the nation in Quran recitation and prayers throughout the country. The family members are honored with national awards and certificates of appreciation and are made to feel that they are not alone but that the police force and the entire nation are always with them. In the cities, rallies are held to pay tribute to the martyrs, in the memory and devotion of the martyrs, the policemen set up blood camps to donate their blood to save the lives of the patients. What a great feeling! On the one hand, the martyred policemen shed their blood drop by drop while sacrificing their lives today to protect the tomorrow of the people, on the other hand, Ghazi policemen offer their own blood donations to save the lives of patients.
Thus, the police of every province of Pakistan has got the highest level of martyrdom, but among them, the honor of getting the highest number of martyrdoms belongs to the police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where more than two thousand policemen have been martyred so far in operations against terrorists. have been Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Muazzam Jah Ansari while addressing a ceremony recently said that 54 personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have been martyred in operations against terrorists during the first 6 months of the current year while since 2006 Since then, the number of personnel who have been martyred has exceeded two thousand. He said that the network of terrorists has been broken.
It should also be remembered that the brave police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1948, along with the proud tribes and the forces of Pakistan, have also performed outstanding deeds in Jihad Kashmir.
According to the report issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, 19220 search and strike operations were conducted in the province during 2021, as a result of which 110 terrorists were killed during police encounters while 599 terrorists were arrested. A price was also fixed on the heads of many of these terrorists. In the same year, 2397.91 kg explosives, 206 hand grenades, 5 suicide vests, 7 RPGs, 31076 detonators and 37 SMGs were recovered in various operations against terrorists. Guess how due to the courage and bravery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police martyrs and ghazis, the province was saved from a major disaster. These are the martyrs whose blood will light the lamps of heaven.
Police forces of developed countries around the world have all kinds of modern weapons and equipment, yet they cannot fight against terrorists the way Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police fought against terrorists using their limited resources. And established an atmosphere of peace in the province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is also being given basic training in army-run training centers.
The police martyrs who laid down their precious lives for the sake of the country are the heroes of the nation and will always live in our hearts as their eternal sacrifices can never be forgotten, the nation salutes their sacrifices. It is the duty of all of us not only to express our solidarity with the families of the martyred police officers but also to support them in all possible ways in their pain and suffering because this is the family of those martyrs who sacrificed one of their sons for the sake of the country. They are also sent to be sacrificed with pride. Salute to the police martyrs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa!
Challenges for Education in Newly Merged District (NMDs)
The need of education for a successful and vibrant society cannot be overstated. Education is harbinger of a developed nation. No nation can develop without education. Education is the only way to stay relevant among the comity of nations. In Pakistan, the quality of education remains a big concern particularly in remote areas. New Merged Districts (NMDs) of KP are also included in the areas where the development of education system is not satisfactory. A large part of the population of the merged districts consists of youth, but unfortunately, due to lack of basic facilities, most of them are unable to complete their education.
The literacy rate in these areas of our country is very low. More than 57 percent of children between the ages of 5 and 16 are out of school in NMDs. Prolonged conflict have taken heavy toll on educational infrastructure in these areas. I believe that if the youth is educated, the country is on the path of development, but if the youth of an area is deprived of education, creative thinking is lost in them. According to a research, currently 1443 schools are not teaching in the tribal districts, most of them 371 schools are closed in South Waziristan while 295 schools are closed in North Waziristan.
Most of the people in NMDs deprive girls of education due to tribal traditions. After tireless efforts of Pakistan Army, this trend is changing but it will take some time to change the perception about girl education in NMDs. Getting education is the basic right of every human being whether it is male or female and both of them have many abilities, the only requirement is to take advantage of them and work for the betterment of the society.
As we all know that the wave of unrest in the merged districts for the last two decades has affected the people there very badly, in such a way even the bright youth are facing failure due to the lack of attention of the government. Despite the promises and claims of the government, the number of schools and colleges here is very less. The provision of scholarships for students is negligible due to which most of them are not able to complete their higher education.
The federal government has issued orders to restore internet in the merged districts, but unfortunately this initiative is not satisfactory so far. In most of these districts, the work on internet restoration has not even started yet due to which students are forced to go to remote areas for internet facility and online classes. Often students lose valuable time if internet is not available.
Recruitment of teachers on the basis of merit is necessary for education, but often this is not possible. Recruitment of incompetent teachers on the basis of recommendation leads to loss of competence and creativity in students due to which they face considerable difficulties in pursuing higher education. Often teachers take their salaries without duty and the students have to pay a heavy price.
The journey of peace and development is about to begin in our merged tribal districts after a long time, so the government and the people here need to give special attention to education by utilizing all the resources. The government should double the number of seats allotted in other city-based universities so that students from these backward areas can advance in the field of education.
Without promoting education in NMDs, the dream of a lasting peace in these restive areas will remain unfulfilled. It is our national duty to promote the need of education and development of educational infrastructure in NMDs particularly for girls. Pakistan’s success in comity of nation depends on raising the standards of education in every nook and corner of the country.
