OGDCL’s Siab-1 Well in KP records surge in production

KOHAT: The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the largest hydrocarbon exploration firm in Pakistan, has achieved a substantial boost in production at its Siab-1 well, situated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Located within the Baratai Block in the Kohat district of KP, the Siab-1 well has been a focal point of OGDCL’s efforts to enhance production in the region. OGDCL shared this achievement through a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.

Operating as a joint venture, OGDCL holds a commanding 97.5% stake in the well, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL) possesses a 2.5% share.

The Siab-1 well has been operational since January 13, 2022, and has consistently demonstrated impressive performance. It has recorded a flow rate of 125 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate and 6.2 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 1700 PSI from the Lockhart formation.

Situated within the OGDCL Dhok Hussain Field, the well has recently undergone a significant production enhancement strategy. Through a rigless intervention in the Lockhart formation, OGDCL successfully boosted hydrocarbon production. This endeavor resulted in an additional output of 265 BPD of oil and 14.3 mmscfd of gas at a WHFP of 4300 PSI.

OGDCL further shared that the surplus gas production is being injected into the network of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

The augmented production from the Siab-1 well commenced on August 28, 2023. As a result of these efforts, the cumulative production from the well now stands at 20.5 mmscfd of gas and 390 BPD of oil, marking a significant achievement for both OGDCL and the energy sector of Pakistan.
