Extreme heatwave forecast for next week

Most parts of Pakistan are in the grip of extreme heat these days. Temperatures in Jacobabad city of Sindh are likely to reach 50 degrees Celsius while heatwave is expected by next week.

The Meteorological Department issued a notification on April 25 warning of heatwave and predicted an increase in the intensity of heat in the country from April 26 to May 2.

The Meteorological Department has also issued an advisory for farmers, stating that dry and hot weather could affect water resources, standing crops and vegetables, and instructed the public to avoid exposure to sunlight. Avoid going straight in the sunlight.
The Meteorological Department added that March this year was the hottest March on record since 1961.

During the last 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country and in the plains. The maximum temperature recorded today was 48 degrees Celsius in Dadu, 47 degrees Celsius in Dera Ghazi Khan, 47 degrees Celsius in Jacobabad, 46 degrees Celsius in Mohenjo-daro, Larkana, Khairpur, Sibi, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur Rohri and Khanpur.

According to the Meteorological Department, hot and dry weather will prevail in most parts of the country on Friday while it will be extremely hot in the plains.
