Gilgit : Pakistan’s Ahmed Uzair and Anum Uzair have etched their names in history as the first husband-wife duo from the nation to successfully conquer Nepal’s imposing Mount Manaslu. This remarkable feat was confirmed by Seven Summit Treks, a leading Nepalese commercial adventure operator.
Mount Manaslu, standing tall at 8,163 meters, ranks as the eighth-highest mountain in the world and is situated in the west-central region of Nepal. The remarkable journey of these intrepid mountaineers comes on the heels of recent successes by other Pakistani climbers, including Naila Kiani, Sirbaz Khan, and Shehroze Kashif, who also summited this formidable peak earlier in the month.
Ahmed and Anum Uzair, who are parents to two children, reached the pinnacle of Mount Manaslu on a memorable Sunday, marking a monumental achievement. Seven Summit Treks celebrated their triumph on the popular social media platform X, extending their heartfelt congratulations.
The company stated, “Congratulations to Ahmed and Anum Uzair who successfully climbed the eighth highest peak, Mt. Manaslu (8163m), this morning. They are the first Pakistani couple to achieve this feat.” The accomplished couple is based in Lahore, Pakistan.
According to Shehroze Kashif, who mentored the duo, Ahmed is a barrister by profession, while Anum is a forensic doctor. He further revealed that they had previously conquered other challenging peaks under his guidance, including Minglik Sar (6,050 meters) and Hisper (5,246 meters) mountains, both located in Pakistan’s northern Gilgit-Baltistan region.
Kashif expressed his confidence that the couple’s remarkable journey is far from over, stating, “They will become the first Pakistani couple to summit all 14 eight-thousanders,” referring to the exclusive club of mountains that exceed 8,000 meters in height.
This historic achievement not only highlights the immense determination and mountaineering prowess of Ahmed and Anum Uzair but also underscores the potential and passion of Pakistani climbers on the global stage. Their accomplishment serves as an inspiration for aspiring mountaineers and showcases the indomitable spirit of adventure and exploration.
