Power shortfall in the country reaches 6,709 MW

The power shortfall in the country has reached 6,709 MW.

According to the Power Division, the total power generation is 21,191 MW but the total demand for electricity in the country has reached 27,900 MW.

According to the Power Division, 4,528 MW of electricity is being generated from water, government thermal plants are generating 1,515 MW of electricity while the total output of private sector power plants is 12,008 MW.
The production from wind power plants is 1,609 MW and from solar plants it is 121 MW. The bagasse-based powered plants are generating 175 megawatts of electricity and nuclear fuel 1,235 megawatts.
The Power Division said that load shedding of up to 16 hours is being carried out in different parts of the country at present while load shedding of up to 6 hours is also being carried out in Islamabad region.
