PTM Leader Ali Wazir released on bail

Sindh High Court has ordered the release of the leader of Pashtun Tehreek Movement (PTM) and member National Assembly, Ali Wazir on Wednesday during hearing of the case related to provocative and anti-national speech.

The case related to provocative and anti-national speech was heard in Sindh High Court on Wednesday, May 11. During the hearing, the court granted bail to MNA Ali Wazir and ordered him to submit a bond of Rs500,000. During the hearing, the court remarked that no attempt was made to arrest Mohsin Dawar, Manzoor Pashtun and Dr Jameel.The bail of the three accused named in the case was also not challenged. In one case of Ali Wazir, the Supreme Court had granted bail.

Police had registered a case of treason against Ali Wazir for inciting the people against the state and using insulting words against the security forces while addressing a rally in Sohrab Goth area of ​​Karachi on December 6, 2020 . Karachi police had registered an FIR against these persons in the state’s complaint through the concerned SHO, which included sections 120B, 153A, 505 (2), 188 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Ali Wazir, a member of the National Assembly, was later arrested on December 16, 2020 in Peshawar on charges of making provocative speeches. Provincial police had said that a case had been registered against Ali Wazir in Karachi for his anti-national speech and Sindh police had requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department to arrest him. After which on 19th December 2020 he was brought to Karachi by plane and later he was transferred to an unknown location.

The Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court had on December 20, 2020 remanded Ali Wazir and three other PTM leaders to police custody.
