2nd IG FC South National Taekwondo championship concludes in Tank

The three-day second National Taekwondo championship 2021 at Sikandar Shaheed camp in Tank was started on December 25 and come to an end on December 27.

Different teams from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, KP, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Army besides more than 150 national taekwondo players from the local team Waziristan Azmari participated in the championship.
The final match of taekwondo was played between Ahsan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Suleiman of Balochistan.

In the colourfull concluding ceremony players of Pakistan Army Taekwondo Team presented a splendid martial arts competition.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Dera Amir Latif said that organising national taekwondo championship in an area like Tank is proof that these areas are peaceful. He said that peace and prosperity have returned to the region due to the great sacrifices of Pakistan Army, FC South, law enforcement agencies and the people. He said that where there is peace, there is prosperity.

Besides Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Amir Latif, Deputy Inspector General of Police Dera Region Shaukat Abbas, Sector Commander South, Deputy Commissioner Tank Kabeer Afridi, Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Khalid Iqbal, DPO South Waziristan Khanzeb Mohmand, President of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (R) Col. Muhammad Wasim Janjua, Commanding Officer 25 apart from the civil and police administration of Sindh, Tank and South Waziristan, a large number of children from different schools besides senior military officials, local tribal elders, local dignitaries, local officials, youth, civil society activists and journalists participated in the concluding ceremony.

 

The elders and guest players said that holding sports event at the national level in an area like Tank would send a message of peace to the world, adding that it was a very welcomed initiative with far reaching results in the region and will help the youth at the local level to develop positive activities including opportunities to participate in sports activities.
